How to Dual Boot macOS Catalina 10.15 with Windows 10?
The Dual Boot is a bit complicated, try to follow the steps to not get puzzled. Therefore, I will write bellow separately and will divide every part of Dual-Booting. Firstly, Create a Bootable USB drive for macOS Catalina 10.15, and Windows 10. Also create a USB drive for Post-installation, such as Kext, Audio driver of macOS Catalina. After that, will bring some changes to BIOS Setup. Besides, when all are done first we will start the installation of macOS Catalina and, Windows 10 on Single SSD/HDD.

And it means that while we installing two operating systems on one machine, such as at the same time we are installing many operating systems on Virtual Machines. In the current era world of technology built such computers, that you can run three operating systems on that, Like macOS, Windows, Kali Linux.
What to do before Dual-Booting macOS Catalina with Windows 10:
- Firstly, you need 3 USB Drive for Dual-Booting of macOS Catalina and Windows, and the USB drive should be at least 16 GB.
- Download Unibeast
- Download macOS Catalina 10.15 DMG file.
- Create USB Bootable Drive for macOS Catalina.
- Create USB Bootable Drive for Windows 10 on Mac.
- Copy the Kext and drivers of macOS Catalina 10.15 into a USB drive.
- Setup the BIOS for Dual-Booting, and edit the BIOS.
- After that, the BIOS Setup is changed then start installing macOS Catalina 10.15
- While the macOS Catalina is installed, Configure the post-installation. It means that install the Kext plus driver in macOS Catalina for better performance.
- And now from macOS Catalina shrink the volume for Windows 10. Or you can shrink the volume on the time of installing Windows 10 also.
- Finally, install Windows 10 and Download Windows 10 ISO file.
Dual Boot Procedure & Guides
Before going to star dual-booting of macOS Catalina 10.15 with Windows 10. You should know the procedure of this article, that from where you have to start and where you should finish. Above I mentioned for you the requirements of Dual-Booting, first install macOS Catalina 10.15 and install Windows 10 on Single SSD/HDD. I recommend you to create a partition for macOS Catalina 10.15 and Windows 10, during the installation of separately. And it might be risky because the process is a bit complicated. And suggest you take a copy of your important files.

However, there are many ways of creating USB Drive for macOS Catalina 10.15. And I am using macOS now in my computer, therefore, here I will show to create USB Bootable drive for macOS Catalina. And this method is the best method that I have experienced and got a better result.
Step 1. Insert a USB of Drive of 16 GB, then from the top menu bar click on Go, and down select Disk Utilities.

Step 3. From the list of USB drives choose the USB drive which you want to create bootable. And click on Erase from the top, then give a Name to USB “Optional”, choose the “Format” of Mac OS Extended (Journaled), and the Scheme GUID Partition Map. Remember that don’t choose any other Format or scheme, and finally click the Erase button.

Step 4. Now the USB Drive is formatted successfully, and ready click Done.

Step 5. After that, the USB Drive is formatted now you some more steps for USB Drive. Therefore, on the right-handed of Window click on search spotlight. After clicking on spotlight write on the search bar “Terminal” and click enter.

Step 6. While the “Terminal” is opened. Copy and paste the below code in the terminal and press enter.
sudo /applications/install\ macOS\ Catalina\ Beta.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --Volume /Volumes/USB

Step 11. After that, you mounted EFI Partition there a folder will create into desktop related to your USB Drive. Therefore, open the EFI file of macOS Catalina and copy and paste into USB Drive.

Step 12. After pasting EFI file to the folder, right-click on EFI folder and click on “Eject EFI”.

Create Bootable USB Drive for Windows 10 using Disk Utility
Creating Windows 10 USB Bootable drive for Windows 10 using Disk Utility is totally simple. In here you need just some changes in format, and scheme, therefore, the procedure of creating USB Drive for macOS and Windows are the same. - Step 1. Insert the separate USB Drive for Windows 10.
- Step 2. Open the computer then on the top menu bar click on Go, and scroll down choose Disk Utilities.
- Step 3. While the utility window opened, select Disk Utility.

Step 7. After opening UNetbootin you will face a warning. That UNetbootin is from an unidentified developer. Are you sure you want to open it? Click “Open” button to launch UNetbootin.

Step 8. Because the UNetbootin is launching from your Mac will ask to enter Username and Password. The postscript wants to make changes, enter your password to allow this, and click Ok.

Step 9. Now the UNetbootin is launched, click mark “Diskimage” and click on … for browsing ISO file of Windows 10.

This step of the article is very important there you need to create a USB Drive for post-install. Without this step, you are unable to run Windows 10 with macOS Catalina at the same time. Because in post-install you need to install some important file after installing macOS Catalina. Like installing Kext into macOS Catalina 10.15, and installing macOS Catalina 10.15 necessary drivers.
- Step 1. The process of creating USB Drive for Post-install is different from creating USB Bootable Drive. Just through Disk Utility, you will create this USB Drive. However, from the top menu bar click on “Go”, and down select “Disk Utilities”.
- Step 2. While the “Utility” window opened, click on “Disk Utility”.

How to change “BIOS Setup” in Macintosh
In this step, you need to bring some changes for the installation or Dual-Booting of macOS Catalina 10.15 with Windows 10. Therefore, BIOS Setup will allow you to run two operating systems at the same time on one computer. Follow, the complete instruction through picture guide below.

To Dual Boot macOS Catalina 10.15 with Windows 10 on single SSD/HHD. Till here you are done with all the process and BIOS Settings. I think it’s better to install macOS Catalina first. If you install Windows 10 first it might create any issue or problem. By the way, if the macOS Catalina 10.15 is already installed on your system, then there is no need to install again. Just complete the settings of BIOS and start installing Windows 10. If macOS Catalina 10.15 is not installed, then follow the below article.
Step 1. Insert the USB Drive, which you created for macOS Catalina 10.15 and restart the system. Again coming back to screen press “Boot Menu button” and using mouse/keyboard select “UEFI: SanDisk, Partition 1” then press enter.

Step 14. Again for the black screen to abord, and wait for 10 minutes of installation. After that, the installation is completed again the system will restart automatically.
Step 15. Again in this step, press the “Boot Menu” button. And select “UEFI: SanDisk, Partition 1” then press enter.

The Configuration of post-installation is much important and necessary. After that, the installation of macOS Catalina 10.15 is completed. Login to your system, and follow the rest of the instruction in the article. Install the Kext and the important drivers.

Step 1. Insert the USB Post-Install Drive, then copy and paste the Drivers of macOS Catalina.

Step 6. Now open “USB EFI” file and the file which created in that copy for the “Disk Drive”.

Step 8. Here open the Fixes folder, the driver folder. And start installing Kext, while you opened the installation file Kext Utility gives you a warning just enter your Username, and password then presses “OK”. Automatically it will fix the Sound issue, Graphic, Wi-fi and other drivers the installation will take a while.

Shrink the Volume, or Create separate Drive for Windows 10 installation
There are two different ways to create a drive for two installations of the operating system one internal drive. First one is while you are installing Windows 10 on the drive which macOS Catalina 10.15 is installed. That time you can shrink or create a drive for Windows 10 installation. And the second one is you can create with Disk Utility before installing Windows 10.
Step 1. Open “Disk Utility” then select the “Hard Drive” that macOS Catalina 10.15 is installed there. And click on “Partition” then click on “Add Volume”. Because we are going to install two operating systems in two different Disk, that is impossible to install Windows 10 and macOS in one Drive.

And give a “Name” for “Drive”, “Format” “Mac OS Extended (Journaled), Specify the size of Drive and click “Apply”. After clicking apply also click on “Partition” then click Continue. The partition will take some minutes to create a drive for Windows 10.

Step 3. Now the Volume for Windows 10 installation is created. Go ahead and install Windows 10.

Perform a Clean installation of Windows 10
Insert the Bootable USB Drive which you have created for Windows 10. Also, you can use the CD DVD, but the USB drive is better for the installation. Because you are sure that Windows 10 ISO file is having no error. Insert the USB Drive and restart your System, then press the “Delete” button for “Boot Menu”. And using Mouse/Keyboard select “UEFI: Sony Storage Media PMAP, Partition 1” and press enter.

Step 1. While you select the boot option and pressed enter, automatically it will boot to Windows 10 installation window.

- In the first window select your Language, and other preferences then click Next.
- Now click on the Install button
- In this step, you will be required to enter the product key. If you have the product key enter that, if not click Skip to bypass this step.
- Agree, I accept the terms and condition then click Next.
- Once the installation type comes click Custom: Install Windows only (Advanced).
- Here in the select the disk where you want to install Windows 10 on that. I recommend you to choose the created volume for Windows 10, and click Format for the new installation.
- Wait for the installation of Windows, it also depends on your computer. While the installation is completed your system will restart automatically in 10 seconds.
- While Windows 10 is back again if Windows ask you for a Product key, just click on Do this later.
- In Let’s get a connected popup window, click Skip this step.
- On the Get Going Fast window, click on Use Express setting.
- Create a computer account and click Next
- Wait for some minutes that Windows should set up the recommended settings.
- Now the Windows 10 and macOS Catalina is successfully Dual Boots enjoy using both operating systems.
Change BIOS Setting for Boot Option
When the installation is completed, therefore, you need to bring changes into “Boot option”. Because while restarting the computer you need to enter Boot Menu and choose the Windows or macOS Catalina. Restart your system and go to “BIOS Setting”, then choose “BIOS” on “Boot Option” #3 edit setting. Whatever the setting is change that to “UEFI OS (P0: GIGABYTE GP-GSTFS31130GNTD), “Windows Boot Manager (P0: GIGABYTE GP-GSTFS31120GNTD”, Save & Exit.
